The Poné Ensemble for New Music
presented a program of exciting, experimental classical music at the Arts
Society of Kingston (ASK). The program complemented ASK's October
Members Exhibition, "Driven to Distraction", and explore ideas of
creativity in both music and the visual arts.
Engaging both experienced modern classical music lovers and those new to
the genre, this short program included instrumental and vocal music by
celebrated 20th-century composers George Crumb and Henry Cowell, as well
as more recent works by Tim Buckley, Marc Mellits, and John Holland. All
of the musical works featured unusual performance techniques or
electronics to highlight the creativity of the composers and versatility
of the performers.
